Flood hazard can vary dramatically over short distances, depending on factors such as local topography and distance to waterways. Since flooding is a very local phenomenon, the hazard information provided by this tool should be considered the preliminary action in defining river flood hazard level. Before committing significant resources to this issue, a study of the surrounding landscape can help you assess whether more detailed assessment and/or intervention should be considered.
